Marcel Verhofstadt

Marcel Verhofstadt made his mark very early on, thanks to his personal vision, the care he took with his strict synthesis and an attractively daring use of his colour palette.

This is often combined with a fierce desire to get to the unadorned essence of his compositions, such as in his still lifes and his landscapes. The same purposeful spirit can be found in his watercolours, which reveal him to be one of the undisputed masters of the technique in Belgium.

Around 1969-1970 he was also a member of the Realist Movement and founder of the Groupe MEGA.
